Norma Romero-Mitchell

Founder and CEO

Norma Romero-Mitchell, Founder & CEO of Benefits Plus Consulting, has made it her mission to empower women and minority entrepreneurs and professionals to help create secure futures for themselves and their families through effective resource and financial management.

A native New Yorker and Cornell graduate, Norma left successful careers on Wall Street and executive positions in the insurance industry to found Benefits Plus Consulting in 1993. She has helped to grow the company continuously for over two decades by developing strategic business solutions through the integration of highly specialized teams comprised of senior level consulting talent and advisors experienced at exceeding client expectations.

Norma's expertise in the areas of financial planning, employee benefits consulting and investment management attracts clients of all sizes and industries. She has over two decades of experience in leading the strategic direction, design and renewal evaluation of a broad spectrum of insurance and retirement benefit plans.

In addition, Norma has been responsible for the oversight of plan roll out and communication strategies aimed at increasing employee participation, retention and satisfaction. Her special focus on the unique needs of diverse active and retiree populations was born from the lack of access to qualified professionals that she witnessed in her own community.

In operating her business, Norma maintains high standards for excellence and personalized service to clients. She is also the proud recipient of the Chairman's and Leadership Awards for the Minority Supplier Development Council of PA-NJ-DE (2010), Pennsylvania's Best 50 Women in Business (2007) and Women of Distinction Award (2007).

Norma's extensive volunteer work gives ample evidence of pride in her Latina roots and commitment to “giving back” to the community. She serves as an Advisory Board Member of Educating Young Minds, a Los Angeles based non-profit serving inner city youth and as a board member of Philadelphia Works, Inc., a non-profit focused on work readiness and economic empowerment. She is a former board member of the Eastern Minority Supplier Development Council (formerly the PA-NJ-DE Minority Supplier Development Council) and ASPIRA National.

Amy R. Webb

Senior Health & Welfare Consultant

Amy has served as a Senior Health Benefits consultant for Benefit Plus Consulting since 2000. Since that time, she has shared her extensive expertise in the design, implementation and renewal evaluation of a broad spectrum of Health & Welfare Plans. Most recently, Amy has assisted Benefits Plus Consulting clients with evaluating longer range cost containment and sustainability strategies through the deployment of more consumer driven health care models and compliance with the Affordable Care Act.

Prior to her tenure with Benefits Plus Consulting, Amy was a health brokerage manager for a large Philadelphia consulting firm and worked in executive positions for Aetna US Healthcare.

Amy has served on the Board of Trustees for Burlington County College since 1999 and as Board Chair. She also sits on the Board of Directors for Saratoga Benefit Services, Burlington County College Foundation, Burlington County Regional Chamber of Commerce and the Moorestown Rotary Club. Additionally, she has served as the past President for the South Jersey Association of Health Underwriters and Treasurer of the AHU.

Amy is a Registered Health Underwriter (RHU) and is licensed in life and health insurance in NJ, PA, NY and Fl. She graduated from Lafayette College with a Bachelors of Arts Degree in Economics and Business.

H. Kathleen Childress

HR and Total Rewards Communications, Employee Engagement

Kathleen has over 25 years of experience in employee communication strategy and delivery and is a subject matter expert for total rewards, compensation and benefits, and wellness communication.

She specializes in planning, creating, and executing services to help employers manage the “hire-to-retire” life cycle, which covers topics from recruiting and orientation to stakeholder research, strategic planning, total rewards, employee benefits, wellness, executive and non-executive compensation, and HR/benefits administration.

She supports Human Resource and operational teams from organizations of all sizes, industries, and cultures in achieving their HR and business goals. The industries she advises include pharmaceutical, manufacturing, telecom, retail, high tech, healthcare, public, and non-profit organizations, with salaried and collective bargaining employees, in various stages of growth.

Prior to partnering with Benefits Plus Consulting, Kathleen was a regional leader of key accounts, business developer, and senior consultant at a global human capital firm. Her speaking experience includes such topics as human capital risk, workforce research, strategic communication, and total rewards approaches. She spoke on human capital and enterprise risk at the Global Strategic Management Institute's enterprise risk forum.

Kathleen received a Bachelors of Arts Degree in philosophy from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University and a Masters of Art Degree in English and Creative Writing from Hollins University.

David McSweeney

Senior Consultant, Healthcare Expense Management, Audits and Contract Compliance

David has over 40 years' experience in health care management, employee benefits, and risk management insurance. He has managed every aspect of large national insurance and employee benefit companies. He served as Chief Operating Officer and Vice President of New Jersey Blue Shield and New Jersey Delta Dental. He was Founder and Regional Vice President of United Healthcare and President and Chief Operating Officer of Alternative Dental Care, a national managed care dental company developed as a joint venture with Lincoln National Life Insurance.

Further, he was President and Chief Operating Officer of Claims Administrative Corporation, a $4 billion subsidiary of CNA Insurance, providing plan administration and employee benefit services for more than 1.4 million people. He served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Vienna Corporation and was Co-Founder and President of American Healthfund.

Before joining the Benefits Plus Team, David was Co-founder and Principal of Healthcare Data Management, Inc. a healthcare benefits auditor and expense management consultant firm. This company was acquired in 2010 by Thomson Reuters, after which he served as Senior Vice President and Practice Leader in Health Care products and services through the transition.

David is a frequent speaker at national forums on such topics as technology and productivity, benefit and plan design, cost containment issues, and federal and state regulatory issues. He currently serves as a Member of the Advisory Board of Medical Present Value, Inc.

Eric I. Mitchell, MD MA FACPE CPE

Chief Clinical Services Auditor

An active leader, educator and visionary, Dr. Mitchell has been prominent in the Philadelphia medical community as both physician and administrator for over 30 years. Since his training from the Hospital University of Pennsylvania (HUP) and the Perelman School of Medicine, Dr. Mitchell has been dedicated to quality, performance improvement and hospital standards review.

Most recently, Dr. Mitchell has been the Chief Clinical Services Auditor for the Benefits Plus Team. This has entailed clinical audits of major health insurance companies in the United States of America. Dr. Mitchell has brought success to health systems in need of systematic improvement and compliance with contractual and accreditation standards.

On the federal level, Dr. Mitchell has served as a Deputy Inspector General for the Department of Defense. Dr. Mitchell brought the DOD his expertise as a Health Outcomes Analyst and advised on medical management for all armed forces. Col. Mitchell's expertise also made him the consultant to the Pennsylvania Veterans Affairs Administration. He also commanded two Combat Support Hospitals for the US Army, in New York and Puerto Rico over his 23-year career.

Dr. Mitchell's commitment to standardized and accredited health organizations has made him one of the areas most sought after healthcare consultants. During his tenure with the City of Philadelphia's Occupational Health Services, and the City of Philadelphia's Prison Health Services, he offered his background as a physician and his expertise in healthcare accreditation to meet the needs of changing healthcare delivery systems.

Denise Holland, MD

Senior Medical Consultant & Clinical Auditor

Dr. Holland is a board certified physician with extensive experience in health care administration, regulatory compliance, cost control and increased quality of care through the design and oversight of innovative management programs.

Prior to becoming a Senior Clinical Auditor for Benefits Plus Consulting, Dr. Holland served as an Associate Clinical Director for Spring Grove Hospital supervising clinical staff and implementing required policies for hospital quality assurance programs. She held similar positions at several other esteemed institutions.

Dr. Holland received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology and her Medical Degree from Howard University and was formerly a Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Public Health Service Commissioned Corps, part of the Department of Health and Human Services overseen by the Surgeon General.

Clinical Team

Dianne Tyrance-Neal, R. Ph. MGA

Senior Pharmacy Consultant & Auditor

Dr. Tyrance-Neal is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in pharmacy health systems management. Her consulting responsibilities include assignments ranging from providing patient outcomes management and medication management process analysis, to adverse medication event reporting and prevention. She also has subject matter expertise in developing and implementing safety and performance improvement programs.

Past successes before joining the Benefit Plus Team include four Joint Commission Accreditations, all without deficiencies or recommendations for improvement, and certified green belt status in Six-Sigma for continuous improvement and data analysis.

Dianne has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Pharmacy from Howard University and a Masters Degree in General Administration from the University of Maryland.

Angela Johnson

Manager of Operations

Angela brings to her position at Benefit Plus Consulting strong organizational, customer service and interpersonal skills acquired during more than a decade of supervisory and administrative experience in the hospitality, insurance and education industries. Her past experience includes positions at the Ritz Carlton Hotel, Brokerage Concepts and The University of Pennsylvania.

She has achieved industry recognition as a winner of the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) Gold Quill and Silver Quill awards, regional IABC awards, and a Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) award.

She oversees all office operations including scheduling, enrollment coordination, staff hiring, professional training and vendor management. Her professional yet warm personal style and dedication to customer satisfaction have earned her many accolades from clients.
